A new Managing Director has been appointed at Yorkshire Caravans of Bawtry, South Yorkshire, the oldest and largest independent retailer of caravans, awnings and leisure accessories in the UK.

Chris Brown, 57, from Barlborough, has held the position of Finance and Operations Director at the company, and has been promoted to the role of Managing Director to continue to steer the business with its ongoing growth strategy.

“Chris’s promotion is very well deserved, and a natural progression after the success that he has delivered in his previous role,” said Jonathan Goulden, Chairman, Yorkshire Caravans.  “His commitment to the company and its people, along with his meticulous attention to detail and passion for the business make him an excellent leader for our business and the industry.”

Chris joined the business as Financial Controller in 2018 and was promoted to F&O Director in 2022. He has had a long career in the automotive sector before joining Yorkshire Caravans which has a £15m turnover and provides employment for 45 team members.

“This was a fantastic surprise and I am delighted to accept this new position.  Thank you to Jonathan for his confidence in me and the incredible team around me for their support over the last six years” said Chris. “Since the business started in 1931 it has never been a company to stand still and I’m very much looking forward to steering the business through its next phase of growth and development and to ongoing success”.

“There is much to look forward to, with a new motorhome franchise coming to fruition later this year and together with the support of our Business Partners we will continue to invest in our team, our infrastructure and new business opportunities to bring the latest products and services to our customers. Exciting times are ahead and this has to be the best job in the world!”
