We are incredibly proud to support the Bomber County Gateway Trust in their mission to create a truly iconic landmark — a full-scale sculpture of the legendary Lancaster Bomber in Lincolnshire.

The “On Freedom's Wings” project officially began with a groundbreaking ceremony in 2018, though the dedication and vision behind it started much earlier. This memorial honours the vital role RAF bases in Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire played during WWII — and none more symbolic than the Lancaster Bomber, a true icon of British resilience.

For us at Yorkshire Caravans & Motorhomes, this project holds special meaning. We began our journey in 1931 in Bawtry, the very same town that was home to Bawtry Hall — formerly RAF Bawtry, the headquarters of No. 1 Group RAF Bomber Command during and after the Second World War. It’s a proud and humbling connection to our community’s remarkable history.

We’re delighted to make a donation that will help the Trust finish this incredible project - a powerful tribute that’s already over 7 years in the making. To play even a small part in bringing this vision to life is a real honour.

“This is a story I’ll be proud to tell my daughters - a powerful symbol of courage, remembrance, and freedom. It truly pulls at the heartstrings.”
