We're a family run business and offer friendly and helpful advice on everything from buying your first caravan to choosing the right accessories.
Our reputation has been built over many years (the company is now in its 79th year) and is based on quality, choice and personal service. Our customer relationships are long term with many customers choosing YC Leisure to supply their new and pre-owned Caravan time and time again.
Over the years YC Leisure has kept ahead of the changes in the leisure industry and focused on customer demand. We are now able to offer one of the largest ranges of both new and pre-owned caravans from the award winning Bailey range to Swift, Abbey, Ace and Sprite.
Canvas City, the UK's largest indoor awning showroom, stocks a vast range of awnings, a selection of trailer tents, folding campers and supplies awnings to almost any size and specification. With our extensive Leisure accessories shop and our premier service center we can accommodate all of your caravanning and outdoor requirements. We can even cater for hungry visitors in Percy's licensed Bistro which is situated near the main entrance. So why would you need to look anywhere else?
YC leisure was started in 1930 by Percy Smith who owned and ran a petrol filling station in Sheffield. Percy was asked by a gentleman if he could store his caravan there for a week or two. The caravan created so much interest that Percy, who was one never to miss an opportunity, contacted the Manufacturer who agreed to supply him with caravans on a sale or return basis.
Percy sold his first three units and then purchased 2 acres of land at the present Doncaster Road site. In the years that followed the company went from strength to strength selling over 300 caravans a year trading as Yorkshire Caravan and Trailer Company.
Following the Second World War the company shortened its name to Yorkshire Caravans. As the popularity of caravanning increased, manufacturers struggled to cope with demand and enlisted the help of Yorkshire Caravans to fit out the empty caravan shells with kite marked furniture and cabinets before retailing the units.
With more disposable income and leisure time activities the 70s saw a golden age for caravanning with Yorkshire Caravans at the forefront with their memorable TV advertising and even more memorable "Can we have one dad?" catchphrase. Today the company is still family owned and is run by Percy's son, Derek Smith and his wife Jan operating from a 34 acre site and employing over 50 people.
